Bill Mason was a four-year letterwinner on the basketball team and was a starting forward during the 1964-65 season. He was the 1966 recipient of the Stafford H. Cassell Award and named the AU Business School’s top scholar-athlete.

Most notably, Bill was the starting centerfielder on AU’s baseball team from 1962-66. He set both the single season and career records for batting average, home runs, runs batted in and slugging percentage. In 1966 Bill became AU’s first-ever player selected in the Major League Baseball draft, being selected by the New York Yankees. 

Mason received his bachelor's from the Kogod School of Business in 1966 and later received his master's from the Kogod School of Business in 1980.
