Recognized for elite accomplishments in each year of his career at American, swimmer and two-time team MVP Ethan Bassett put together a remarkable list of championships and honors as an Eagle.

After being named the Colonial Athletic Association's Rookie of the Year in 2001, Bassett went on to earn First Team All-Patriot League honors in each of his three seasons in the league. He earned eight individual conference titles—two each in the 500 free and 200 breast, as well as four in the 400 individual medley. Bassett was also a part of five gold medal-winning relays spanning all three seasons in the Patriot League.

In the 800 free relay, Bassett was a part of three conference titles and set a school record that still stands today. He was a four-time NCAA "B" qualifier, and is still on seven career top-10 lists at American.

In 2002, Bassett was named the Patriot League's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and in 2015, he was named to the Patriot League's 25-Year Anniversary Team.
