From growing up on campus to his time as a student-athlete on the men’s soccer team, graduating in 1977, Jack Cassell has remained deeply connected to American University for nearly five decades. He has served on the AU Board of Trustees since 2003 and was chairman from 2015 to 2019. Jack has also chaired the board’s athletics committee and has played a major leadership role in advancing key athletics initiatives across the university. An amazing benefactor, Jack is also omnipresent at home games across every Eagles team, and his care for their growth, graduation, and success beyond the playing fields is exemplary.

Philanthropically, he has generously contributed to transformational academic and athletic projects and programs in support of the Department of Athletics and our student-athletes, as well as significant capital projects including the Cassell Residence Hall and Fitness Center, and the Meltzer Center for Athletic Performance.

Jack’s passion and leadership are a reflection of his father’s legacy — the legendary student-athlete, coach, athletic director, and vice president Stafford “Pop” Cassell — whose name is also woven into the history of AU Athletics.

Professionally, Jack is the founder and former CEO of Visual Aids Electronics and its subsidiary, Conference Systems, Incorporated, which he grew from a local enterprise into a national leader in audiovisual solutions. After selling the company in 2013, he went on to establish Cassell Global Investments, LLC, where he serves as president and CEO and oversees a diverse portfolio of companies in the U.S. and Brazil.
