Transgender Inclusion Policy
American University is a community where individuals of all identities and experiences are understood, appreciated, and fully included, and where equitable treatment, opportunities, and outcomes prevail. In keeping with a university tradition that is committed to inclusiveness and social justice, AU became one of the first dozen colleges in the United States to explicitly include “gender identity and expression” in our non-discrimination policies. The AU Athletic Department Transgender Inclusion Policy is designed to assist administrators, coaches, student-athletes and their families in understanding the NCAA’s rules and regulations for the participation of transgender students in intercollegiate athletics.
