Earning All-American honors in each of his two seasons at American, Ryan Flores was the runner-up finisher at the NCAA Championships as a junior heavyweight in 2011. Arriving at AU after two seasons wrestling for Columbia, Flores made an immediate impact and held the No. 1 spot in the country at 285 lbs for 16 straight weeks in his first season as an Eagle. He was only the second wrestler in school history to advance to the NCAA finals. One year later, he returned to nationals and placed sixth to earn his second All-America honor.

Flores captured the heavyweight title at the EIWA Championships in both 2011 and 2012.

Despite wrestling for only two years at AU, he posted an incredible 27 wins by fall to rank fourth in program history. He ranks 19th all-time for career dual match wins with 26, and his 15 dual match wins in the 2010-11 season are tied for 13th all-time in a single season.

Flores was the EIWA Sheridan Memorial Award recipient in 2012, and was inducted into the EIWA Hall of Fame in 2023.
