The only player in program history to be named to the All-Patriot League First Team in all four years, Friederike Engel's list of honors from her years with the women's soccer program is a lengthy one. In 2009, Engel was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, and is one of only two Eagles to ever earn the award. She was the PL's Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2007 and was named to the All-Region Third Team that same season.

In 2010, Engel was one of 30 candidates nationwide for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, recognizing the best senior student-athletes.

She started in 70 games at American, which is tied for ninth in program history, and scored five career goals. Engel led the team to a pair of Patriot League Tournament appearances, including a championship game appearance in 2009. She was selected to the inaugural Academic All-Patriot League Team, and was a member of the Patriot League's 25th Anniversary Team in 2015.
