Jeff Jones' coaching tenure at American was marked by unparalleled success and transformative leadership. Under his guidance, the Eagles won their first two Patriot League Championships and earned back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2008 and 2009.

In his 13 seasons, Jones' teams captured four Patriot League regular-season titles and played in five championship games, a testament to his ability to consistently compete at the highest level. With an overall record of 212-182, Jones became the winningest coach in program history, achieving nine winning seasons and mentoring 22 All-Patriot League selections.

Among his standout players, two were named Patriot League Players of the Year—Patrick Doctor in 2002 and Derrick Mercer in 2009—while Andre Ingram and Mercer were recognized as Rookies of the Year.

Jones' coaching prowess earned him Patriot League Coach of the Year honors in 2009. His emphasis on academic and personal development saw 60 of his players named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, while 23 of his athletes pursued professional careers.
