Daniel Waters made history as American University's first-ever All-American in wrestling, achieving an eighth-place finish in the 174-pound weight class at the 2005 NCAA Championships. Over the course of his stellar career, Waters compiled an impressive record of 59-10, including a mark of 32-5 in 2004 and 27-5 in 2005.

His 32 wins in 2004 ranked first in the NCAA, a testament to his dominance on the mat. That same year, he earned recognition as the Outstanding Wrestler at the Wilkes Open, captured titles at the West Virginia Open and Keystone Classic, and placed fourth at the prestigious Midlands Championship.

In 2005, despite suffering a season-ending knee injury in the previous year's EIWA Championships, Waters returned to place fourth at the EIWA Championships and ranked in the top 15 nationally.
