Frankie Solomon of the American
University women’s lacrosse team has been selected as the
American University Student-Athlete of the Week, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
Solomon, a senior goalkeeper from Carlsbad, Calif., allowed a
career-low four goals in American’s 10-4 victory over
Davidson on Sunday afternoon. She registered seven saves in picking
up her second win of the season. Additionally, AU’s four
goals allowed were the fewest in program history since May 1, 2004,
when the Eagles defeated Bucknell, 17-3, in the Patriot League
Tournament Semifinals.
This is the first American University Student-Athlete of the
Week award for Solomon is her career.
Prior to Sunday’s game, Solomon and the other four senior
student-athletes on AU’s women’s lacrosse squad were
honored in a pregame ceremony. Click here to watch the ceremony.
The Eagles will close out the regular season on Saturday, April
24 at Holy Cross. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. With a win, AU
will earn a berth into the four-team Patriot League Tournament.
