Men's track student-athlete Colin
Eustis has been selected as the American University
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO. Eustis
won the men's college 3000 meter run at the New Balance Colleigiate
Invitational on Saturday in a new personal-best time of 8:13.28.
Eustis bested a field of 37 runners in the event and led an
American 1-2 finish in the event along with fellow junior Jeff
Brannigan. In addition to this, Eustis ran the
fifth fastest time in school history in the event, and was less
than two seconds off of the fourth best time run by an Eagle.
Eustis has had an outstanding junior campaign, as he earned
All-Patriot League First Team honors after finishing 6th
overall in the 2009 PL Championship meet. On the track, he
has improved his times across the board in every event he has run
so far this season. In addition, Eustis was the only male
runner in the conference to earn a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester.
The American University track and field teams have this weekend
off, but will return to action on February 19-21 for the Patriot
League Indoor Track and Field Championships, this year being hosted
by Army at West Point, N.Y.
