Tekiel has been named the American University
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday. Tekiel recorded two
double-doubles over the weekend, including the first of her career.
Tekiel scored 12 kills on Saturday at Army and added 10 digs for
her first career double-double. On Sunday, the junior returned to
the court against Holy Cross and notched her second double-double
in as many days. Tekiel recorded 18 kills and a career-high 17 digs
to lead American to a 3-2 victory and finished the match with a
.533 hitting percentage. Earlier in the week against William &
Mary, Tekiel tallied 16 kills and seven digs.
American will be back in action with two matches next weekend,
October 23 and 24, in Bender Arena. The Eagles will first take to
the court on Friday against Lehigh at 7 p.m. and then will return
on Saturday to host Lafayette at 4 p.m. Friday's match against
