Senior Kyle
Borshoff has been named the American University
Student Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO after his win over
#3 Lance Palmer of Ohio State at the 44th annual NWCA
All-Star Classic.
Borshoff, a 2009 All-American and currently ranked fourth in the
nation at 149 lbs., took a 0-0 tie into the second period against
Palmer, a three-time All-American. In the second, Palmer earned an
escape point to take a 1-0 lead which held throughout the remainder
of the period. Borshoff quickly evened the score at one with an
escape to begin the third period and then took a 3-1 lead scoring
the match's only takedown. Palmer scored an escape late in the
period to move the score to 3-2 but was unable to penetrate
Borshoff's defense as time expired.
Borshoff began his season last week at the ACC Challenge where
he posted a perfect 3-0 record. Sunday's win over Palmer will not
count towards his overall record, however, as the All-Star Classic
is considered an exhibition.
Borshoff and the Eagles will return to the mat this Saturday,
November 28, at the Journeymen/Brute Northeast Duals.
