Koch have been selected as the American University
Student-Athletes of the Week presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics and Recreation officials announced Monday. Both won
individual championships at their respective Patriot League
Championships over the weekend.
Pelletier had a successful three days of competition at the 2010
Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships over the weekend.
He swam the first leg of the men's 400 medley relay team on Friday
and posted a split of 48.89, setting a new school record and
eclipsing the NCAA ‘B' Cut time. Pelletier returned to the
pool on Saturday to claim his first career conference championship,
capturing the 100 back title in 49.61 seconds. On the final day of
competition, Pelletier finished third in the 50 free with a time of
1:50.48.
Koch won the women's 1000 meter title at the 2010 Patriot League
Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday, highlighting a
strong performance by the Eagles at the meet. She crossed the tape
in a time of 2:57.37, placing her just ahead of Katelyn Hartnett
from Holy Cross who took second in 2:57.88. Her time bested her
previous personal record in the event of 2:57.56 and is the fourth
fastest time in school history. Koch was also a member of the
women's 4x800 meter relay team which placed sixth on Saturday. Koch
combined with teammates Tina
Thomas, Natalie
Omundson and Katherine
Hekker for a time of 9:57.45, good for fifth all-time
at American.
