BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After helping American University volleyball to another undefeated weekend, freshman outsider hitter
Sophie Dufour has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
Dufour totaled 22 kills and 17 digs in a productive weekend, highlighted by a .385 hitting percentage against Bucknell on Sunday afternoon. She added nine digs to her 12 kills on the day, and the six-rotation player also put down two service aces.Â
This is the fourth time the freshman has earned Rookie of the Week honors in her stellar debut campaign so far, last winning it on Sept. 23. Dufour is second in the Patriot League in kills with 214, averaging 3.82 per set.Â
Salme Adeele Hollas and
Bella Marrero earned honorable mentions for the Eagles, Hollas in the Player of the Week category and Marrero on the defensive side. Hollas was dominant on the attacking side of the ball this weekend, totaling 30 kills and hitting .359. The sophomore transfer added 16 digs, and hit .459 in an 18-kill performance against Lehigh.Â
Marrero continued her run of impressive consistency at libero, handling 32 digs and dishing out eight assists.Â
The Eagles are back in action this weekend at home, hosting Lafayette on Friday and Holy Cross on Sunday.Â
