MANHEIM, Pa. – Five American University wrestlers were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America Team, as the organization recently announced. Two were repeat honorees, and it ties the 2022 recipients for the largest group to be honored for AU since 2012.
Graduate student
Colin Shannon and senior
Patrick Ryan both earned the NWCA honor for a second year in a row. Redshirt junior
Will Jarrell, sophomore
Jack Maida and redshirt freshman
Lucas White are first-time honorees among the 291 individuals across 73 programs to be honored. All five recently earned EIWA Academic Achievement Awards as well.
The Eagles were also one of the top-30 scholar teams in the nation, ranking 24th with a collective team GPA of 3.34.
The NWCA Executive Director, Mike Moyer, praised the recipients for their dedication to both their athletic and academic pursuits, saying, "Wrestling takes much focus and sacrifice, and we are proud to honor these wrestlers' obvious commitment to their academic pursuits!"
