Biography

2024-25 (Graduate Student): Finished his final season 24-14 overall, tied for second on the team in wins… Also second on the team in dual points with 40… Named a team captain for the third straight season and wrestled well in crucial moments, including a 15-1 major decision over Harvard’s Hudson Skove to secure a one point victory for AU on 1/17, and a 5-3 decision over Bucknell’s Logan Shephard on Senior Night (2/14)... Won 10 of 11 matches from 11/23 to 1/4… Was ranked #32 at 285 in two Coaches’ Polls, and #26 in the RPI… Made the podium in eighth at the EIWA Championships… Finished tied for 10th in pins in program history with 19… Earned the Brian Sulmonetti Exemplary Teammate and the Josh Glenn Most Outstanding Wrestler awards at the team banquet… Ended his career with 70 wins… EIWA Academic Achievement Award winner, NWCA Scholar All-American, and CSC Academic All-District.

2023-24 (Graduate Student): First alternate at heavyweight for the NCAA Championships after placing ninth at the EIWA Championships... Earned both NWCA Scholar All-American honors and an EIWA Academic Achievement Award... Served as a team captain for a third year in a row... Was ranked 33rd at heavyweight in the first two NCAA rankings releases... Went 19-15 overall to lead the Eagles, also leading the team with seven wins by fall... Winner of the BAGUBA Award, the Iron Eagle Award and the Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award at the team's annual banquet... Ranks 12th all-time in program history with 14 wins by fall... Defeated #8 Taye Ghadiali of Campbell by 7-0 decision at the Chippewa Challenge on Jan. 14... Went 11-10 overall in dual meets and posted a 3-2 record at EIWAs to take ninth... Placed third at the Battle at The Citadel with a record of 3-1.

2022-23 (Redshirt Junior): Served as a team captain for a second year in a row... NWCA Scholar All-American... EIWA Academic Achievement Award recipient... Co-recipient of the Brian Sulmonetti Memorial Exemplary Teammate Award at the end-of-year banquet... Went 14-14 in his first season at heavyweight and is 27-43 in his career... Placed fifth at the Navy Classic, going 4-1 including a pin vs. Navy and a major decision over Bucknell... Took third place at The Citadel Open with a 3-1 record including a pin of teammate Isaac Righter (1:14) in the third-place bout.

2021-22 (Redshirt Sophomore): Earned a win vs. Ethan Weatherspoon of Virginia to start the season at 197 pounds... Placed fifth at the Bearcat Open, losing his first bout before going on to win five straight to close out the day... Was injured in December and did not compete again... Planning a move to heavyweight for his fourth season.

2020-21 (Sophomore): Did not compete at the EIWA Championships, the program's only meet due to a COVID-shortened season.

2019-20 (Freshman): Started the EIWA Championships on a high note with a shutout, 5-0 decision against Harvard in the pigtail match at 197 pounds... Best result of the season was a 2-2 performance at the Patriot Open on Dec. 7, getting both wins by fall.

High School: Two-time Independent School League (ISL) champion...Two-time New England finalist...Made it to the blood rounds at prep nationals...Won most falls/least time at the ISL tournament as a senior...Was an All-ISL athlete four years in a row...Coaches Cup winner as a senior...Selected as the All-Star debater in high school.

Personal: Grandfather, Dudley Herschbach, played football at Stanford and was invited to try out for the Rams, but decided to pursue science instead and ended up winning a Nobel prize...Earned degrees in political science and philosophy from American in May of 2023 and is now working toward a master's degree in political science.
