Biography

2022-23 (RS Senior) - NWCA Scholar All-American and EIWA Academic Achievement Award winner for a second year in a row... Went 9-16 for the season to finish his career at 40-61... Earned third place at The Citadel Invitational on Nov. 13, going 3-1 with an 18-8 major decision over The Citadel’s Will Rogers in the third-place bout.

2021-22 (RS Junior) - Went 5-18 overall to bring his career total to 31-45... Went 3-2 at the Navy Classic including a pin of Kent State's Michael Ferree... Moved from 174 pounds to 184 pounds in January... Earned a win in his opening bout at the EIWA Championships against LIU's James Langan... Earned an EIWA Academic Achievement Award and was named an NWCA Scholar All-American.

2020-21 (RS Sophomore) - Did not compete at the EIWA Championships, the program's only meet due to a COVID-shortened season.

2019-20 (Redshirt) - Earned five podium finishes during his redshirt year, going 26-12 overall at 174 pounds... Won the Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Open with a perfect 5-0 record (4-0 vs. rostered opponents)...Took the title with a 13-1 major decision win over Navy’s Shane Finney in the finals... Placed second at both the Messiah Open and Mat-Town Open with 3-1 records, took fourth at the Clarion Open and sixth at the Wilkes Open... Recorded five wins by fall including a 30-second fall and a 37-second fall at the Mat-Town Open... Totaled 11 major decision victories and one technical fall... Went 13-4 in his final 17 matches of the year.

2018-19 (Sophomore) - Tied for sixth on the team with 22 wins, going 22-15 overall at 174... Tied for second on the team with seven wins by fall and tied for first with six wins by major decision... Career mark stands at 26-27... Finished second at the Messiah Open with a 4-1 record and third at the Patriot Open, going 3-1... Also took third at the Mat-Town Open with a 3-1 mark... Posted two wins by fall at the Bob Quade Open and placed tied for fifth... Won his only dual match bout vs. Max Elling of Columbia.

2017-18 (Freshman) – Went 4-12 for AU this season, mostly wrestling in open tournaments… Went 1-2 at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic, with his win coming over AU teammate Michael Eckhart… Also went 1-2 at the Storm Open, beating Robert Janis of Notre Dame College… Had a 1-2 record at the Wilkes Open in late December, beating Dylan Skidmore of Rowan-Gloucester… Won his consolation-bracket opener at the National Collegiate Open, beating Caleb Norris of Davenport, 3-1… Finished 1-2 at the National Collegiate Open on 2/25.

Before AU – Attended North Penn HS, where he went 117-48 in his career… Finished 39-7 and 6th in the state as a senior at Class AAA … Also went 36-9 as a junior… 29-17 as a sophomore… Three-time state qualifier… Two-time sectional champ and won his district… Recipient of the Ed Klavon Memorial Sportsmanship Scholarship… Also won a scholarship in 2017 from the wrestling officials… Wrestled four seasons and served as team captain for the Contender Elite club in Telford, Pa., for coach Chris Atkinson.

Personal –  Parents are Susan and Kevin Shannon… Mother played field hockey at Wilkes University… Has two younger siblings, Heather and Brayden… Majoring in political science with a projected minor in education… Honor Roll student at North Penn… Serves as volunteer coach with his wrestling club… Says his biggest sports thrill is pulling off an upset… Came to AU for an amazing education and the wrestling program… Toughest thing about being a college athlete is scheduling… Hope to become a politician or a teacher… His superstition is to warm up right before his match.
