The American University men's track team opened its indoor season Saturday at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
The distance medley relay team of Colin Eustis, Morgan Block, Craig Brown and Jeff Brannigan took home the Eagles' lone victory of the day, crossing the finish line in an IC4A qualifying time of 10:07.99.
American had a strong showing in the 3000 meter run with three top-10 finishers. Conor Sullivan placed third in 8:36.15 and was followed by John Pope (8:49.70) in seventh and Mark Leinenger (8:51.04) in eighth.
Mark Allen ran to a fourth-place finish in the 5000 meter run, stopping the clock in 14:57.67. Ryan Williams took sixth in the event in 15:06.14.
Also competing on Saturday for the Eagles were Alex Lyons, Zach Wright and Chris Tonn. Lyons placed fifth in the mile run, posting a time of 4:22.76, while Wright took fifth in the high jump with a final height of 1.94 meters. Tonn, meanwhile, finished ninth in the 800 meter run in 1:58.30.
Both the men's and women's track teams will be back in action on Friday, January 7 at the Delaware Invitational in Newark, Del.
