Annapolis, Md. – The men's 4x800 relay capped off an exciting day of competition with a bronze medal on the first day of the Patriot League Championships (May 15). The squad of sophomores
Zack Zerbe,
Ty Parker, and
Barak Goldstein and freshman
Daden Grogan ran an AU eighth all-time performance of 7:31.11 to take third in the relay. The last time AU got hardware in the event was 2018.
Zerbe took the race out in the lead, passing the baton to Parker in 1:54.70. Parker ran 1:53.78, passing the baton to Goldstein in third. Goldstein maintained the Eagles' place, running 1:52.88. Grogan made a strong move to solidify the squad's bronze medal, anchoring in 1:49.76.
Senior
Kaden Kluth, the reigning Patriot League 1500 champion, won his heat of the prelims in 3:50.71 to secure a spot in tomorrow's final. He'll compete to defend his title tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. Joining him in the 1500 final will be freshman
Emmett Engelhardt, who ran 3:50.94 to qualify.
Senior
Carver Morgan also qualified for the final in the 800 in a heat win, running 1:50.82. He'll defend his three consecutive PL 800 titles tomorrow at 2:37 p.m.
Sophomore
Lara Gin qualified for her first ever PL final, running 56.94 seconds in the 400 prelims to grab the last qualifying spot. She'll race the 400 final at 1:40 p.m.
- Before earning a Patriot League bronze medal, Zack Zerbe and Ty Parker ran strong races in the 1500 meter prelims. Zerbe ran 3:53.12 to finish 13th, just off his PR and just out of qualifying range for the final. Ty Parker ran a two-second personal best of 3:53.41, placing 15th.
- In the men's 100, junior Jason Omari-Anim ran a massive season best of 10.83 seconds, just three hundredths of a second off his PR and program record of 10.80.
- Daden Grogan placed 10th in the 800 prelims in 1:51.49, just off his PR and finals qualifying position.
- Freshman Gregory Celariste ran a lifetime best of 21.82 seconds in the 200 meters, his first run under 22 seconds, moving up to fourth AU all-time.
- In the women's 200 meters, sophomore Zoe Clark ran a wind-legal PR of 25.28 seconds.
