Carver Morgan and Kaden Kluth Qualify for NCAA Championship First Round For Second Year

WASHINGTON – Seniors Carver Morgan and Kaden Kluth have both qualified for the First Round of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the second consecutive year after running times in the top 48 of the East Region in their respective events this season. Morgan will compete in the 800 meters, while Kluth will compete in the 1500 meters. The meet will be hosted by the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., from May 27-30.

Morgan earned his fourth consecutive Patriot League 800 meter title at the Patriot League Championships (May 16). His wire-to-wire performance gapped the field by more than two seconds while Morgan ran a meet, facility, and AU record of 1:46.85. The time ranks 26th in the East Region after scratches.

Kluth also earned more hardware outdoors, running 3:42.61 to take the silver medal at the Patriot League Championships. Kluth's PR of 3:39.43, set at the Virginia Challenge (Apr. 17), ranks 17th in the region after scratches.

"Kaden and Carver's qualification to the NCAA First Round is a great continuation of their impressive year of competition," said head coach Sean Graham. "Having qualified last year as well, this is certainly something we planned and expected, but there are never guarantees in sport, so the accomplishment of doing so is something I am proud of them for repeating. They have both developed greatly this year in high level competition, in their times run and success at the highest level. Highlights are, of course, Carver's recent record-setting fourth consecutive 800 PL championship, and Kaden's storied Penn Relays anchor to chase down the nations best to a fourth place finish in the DMR. They're both in a great spot right now to attack at the national championships."
