BOSTON – The American University track team set several AU top-10 times on the first day of the Patriot League Championships (Feb. 28). Seniors
Kaden Kluth and
Carver Morgan repeated as finals qualifiers, with Kluth qualifying in the men's mile (4:06.81) and Morgan qualifying in the men's 800 (1:51.30). Freshman
Shealyn Brochu was the only freshman in the women's mile field to qualify for the final in the event, running 4:49.96.
- In the men's mile, freshman Emmett Engelhardt placed 13th in a PR of 4:08.95.
- Freshman Gregory Celariste placed 20th in the 400 meters, running a personal best and second AU all-time mark of 50.14 seconds. In the women's 400, sophomore Lara Gin placed 18th, running a PR of 57.49 seconds to improve her third all-time mark for AU.
- In the men's 800, sophomore Papakojo Danquah ran an indoor PR of 1:55.78 to place 10th.
- Sophomore Kara Langbaum ran a three-second personal best in the 800 meters to place 18th, running 2:16.37 to put herself at seventh all-time for AU.
- Senior Cooper Michaud put the first points on the board for the Eagles, running a 16-second PR of 14:20.86 in the 5k to place seventh. Sophomore Daniel Messer (14th) also PRed in the 5k, running a 12-second PR of 14:45.16.
- Freshman Lilia Jones continued her PR streak in the 60 meters, improving her second all-time mark to 7.68 seconds to place 10th in the event. She doubled back in the 200, running a PR of 25.93 seconds to improve her seventh AU all-time mark.
- Celariste doubled in the 200 along with junior Jason Omari-Anim. The duo of Celariste (19th) and Omari-Anim (20th) ran 22.14 and 22.15 seconds, both significant personal bests. They moved up to second and third all-time for the Eagles.
- The men's 4x8 squad of Ty Parker, Daden Grogan, Zack Zerbe, and Barak Goldstein placed fifth with a seventh AU all-time mark of 7:36.28.

The Eagles will be back in action for day two of the Patriot League Championships tomorrow (Mar. 1), starting with the men's mile at 12:02 p.m.
Kaden Kluth will race the men's mile final at 12:02, followed by
Shealyn Brochu in the women's mile final at 12:11 p.m. At 12:58 p.m.,
Carver Morgan will race the men's 800 meter final.
Also taking place tomorrow are the 3k, the distance medley relay, and the 4x400 relay.
