BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For her efforts against Colgate on Saturday, American University field hockey's
Ninthe Botman has been named the Rookie of the Week. This is the freshman's second time receiving the recognition this season.
Botman scored both of American's goals against Colgate. The freshman tallied five shots, four of which on target. With her goals, American was able to secure a 2-nil shutout against the Raiders and move to 2-0 in Patriot League play. The striker tallied her third and fourth goals of the season in the first half, scoring once in the first period and again in the second. She is now tied for second on the squad with
Jordan Reicher in goals on the season.
On Friday, October 3, the Eagles will face off with league opponents Lafayette at home at Jacobs Complex before going again on Sunday, October 5 against Villanova.
The Eagles and the Leopards are the only two undefeated teams in league play and three of the last five–and six of the last 10–games between the two programs have gone to either overtime or double overtime. The Eagles have won all but one of those previous 10 matchups.
