Eagles Add Taylor Lauterbach as Women’s Basketball Director of Operations

Killion rounds out coaching staff with Lauterbach

WASHINGTON – Taylor Lauterbach, a former post player at Kansas State and Virginia, will join the American University women's basketball team as Director of Operations, solidifying head coach Kelly Killion's coaching staff before the season sets off this fall.

"We're excited to welcome Taylor Lauterbach to American," said Killion. "She is very skilled, hardworking, and–most importantly–a great human. Taylor brings a level of dedication, positivity, and work ethic that truly elevates those around her."

At K-State, she appeared in 75 games with the Wildcats, earning a spot on the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 first team. In May 2022, she competed in the Red Bull USA Basketball 3x Nationals, with her team finishing in third place in the Pool B standings. While at UVA, having appeared in 49 games across two seasons, Lauterbach twice earned All-Academic ACC honors.

A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, Lauterbach collected a plethora of honors before even stepping foot onto a collegiate court. The 6'7 center was a top-100 prospect coming out of Appleton West High, ranked as the No. 12 recruit at her position for the class of 2020 by espnW HoopGurlz.

"I'm excited to call American University home and work with Coach Killion to build something special," said Lauterbach. "Can't wait to get to work!"

Lauterbach earned a Bachelor of Art in Psychology from Kansas State in 2023 on a three-year fast track and added on a Masters in Higher Education from the University of Virginia in 2025.
