Gineste, Reicher, Roffo, and Süme Take Home PL Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Four Eagles from the American University field hockey team have earned Patriot League honors after a 2-0 weekend: Pauline Gineste, Jordan Reicher, Agustina Roffo, and Lotti Süme have all been tabbed as players of the week.

Gineste was tabbed the Goalkeeper of the Week. The senior earned her fourth shutout when the Eagles played Villanova and allowed just one goal from Lafayette, the league-leaders in scoring coming into the weekend. The Charlottesville native made six saves total over the weekend, four against Lafayette and two against Villanova.

Reicher comes away with Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. She scored three goals across the weekend, once against Lafayette to give the Eagles their three-goal lead in the final quarter, and twice against Villanova with both her goals against the Wildcats coming before halftime. The junior forward now leads the team with 7 goals and 15 points. Her 7 goals tie her career high of last season with eight games still left to play in the regular season.

Once again, Roffo is the Midfielder of the Week. It's her third time being honored this season. Roffo's goal opened the scoring against Lafayette, proving to set the tone for the Eagles in that game. The midfielder had a single shot in the game, and it was on goal and made it count on the stat line. She also assisted on Reicher's goal, the third of the game and was crucial to the Eagles' speed on the wings against the Leopards and the Wildcats of Villanova.

Süme is the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week. She is the only Eagle to play every minute of both games across the weekend, and the only AU field player to have played every minute so far this season, Süme was the last line of defense for a back line that held the league leaders in goals scored coming into the weekend (Lafayette) to just four shots on target and kept Villanova to just two shots on frame and helped the Eagles earn their fourth clean sheet of the season.

The squad has two non-conference home games on the docket this coming week. On Wednesday, October 8, the Eagles will face off with the Towson Tigers before battling with VCU on Sunday, October 12.
