Outdoor Track Starts Season at Richmond’s Fred Hardy Invite

WASHINGTON – The American University track team is taking things outdoors, kicking off their outdoor season on Friday at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by Richmond on Friday, March 17.

NOTES

American is back on the track this week after closing its indoor season at the Patriot League Indoor Championships on February 26.
The Eagles will travel 37 to Richmond's Robins Stadium. Events will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women's 3000m steeplechase and the day will close with the women's and men's 4x400m relays at 5:00 and 5:10 p.m.
Senior Row Sullivan will look to continue making their way through the program record books as they take to the track in the 1500m run. Currently they sit in seventh in the 3000m run with their 8:23.37 personal record (PR) last season and in sixth in the 10k run with a time of 30:16.10 from their freshman season.
Junior June Mwaniki, who last year during her sophomore campaign broke into the record books with her 3000m PR (10:20.62).
Mwaniki will be taking to the track in the women's 5000m run which will also field four other members of the women's team, including senior Rachael Potter who's eighth in the record books for the 10k from her freshman season.
On the men's side, Tucker Zullo and Nate Reeves, who sit at eighth and ninth respectively in the record books for the 800m run, are going to be hitting the track in a much shorter distance race, the 200m dash, joining fellow indoor track standouts freshmen Fernando Ibarra and Kaden Kluth, and junior Ethan Puc.
