Coaches' Corner
"Start to finish the program had a great two days of racing at George Mason this weekend," said head coach Sean Graham. "We're in the middle of our season, with a heavy training load and tired legs, and the team came out and performed really well. A lot of very savvy aggressive racing, heat wins, event placing, PRs nearly across the board, program top times, and to date top-five and top-10 times in the conference. I'm very happy with how we raced.

"In the best way there are too many highlights to mention all of them, but there are a few standouts. In the 100, Lilia PRed and is second all time for the program, and Greg ran a slightly wind aided 10.7, which would be a school record if the wind was lighter. In the 200, Jason and Zoe had solid days, Jason matching his PR and Zoe at 25.0 with a positive wind. The 400 had Greg with a sixth all-time PR and Lara ran a big PR and is now second all-time. Both ran away from their heats. The women's 4x100 nabbed the no. 2 program time in their first go at it this year.

"The 800s went excellently for our freshman. Shealyn got a nice PR and fourth all-time performance. Daden continues to knock time off his 800 with a PR, now seventh all-time and sixth in the Patriot League. The men's and women's 1500s went VERY well with PRs for nearly everyone — and we had nine athletes in that event!

"Finally in the distance events, Cooper Michaud came away with a big PR in the steeple, now third all-time and fourth in the Patriot League in his first one of the season. Then in the 5ks, Annie Ripol had an excellent race, coming away with a big PR, 24 seconds ahead of her previous best. Jaden Frederick knocked another 10 seconds off his PR as well.

"Just a very good weekend of mid-season racing across all of our events! We'll now get back to training and have a few tune up races next week, aiming for big races at UVA in two weeks."

Next Up
The team will stay local again next weekend for the Bison Classic at Gallaudet University (Apr. 11).
