Bryn Underwood have been voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday. This is Underwood's second year in a row being honored to the team.
Boston University led the conference with three selections to the team and with the selection for Scholar Athlete of the Year. American tied with both Bucknell and Lafayette with two athletes apiece. Colgate, Holy Cross, and Lehigh each had one honoree. Voting for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and All-Academic Team is done by the league's field hockey sports information directors who are not eligible to vote for their own student-athletes.
Dupont, the Boxtel, Netherlands native, holds a cumulative GPA of 3.77 and will graduate in the spring with a degree in communication studies. She plans on perusing her master's degree in communication science with a focus in entertainment at the University of Amsterdam.
Underwood makes her second appearance on the Academic All-League this season only 24 hours after being voted as the league's Goalkeeper of the Year for the second season in a row. The Rookie of the Year her first season with the team, she was also selected to her second All-Patriot League First Team on Tuesday. The junior is studying business & entertainment and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.93.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor. These honors recognize student-athletes who excel in their sport and the classroom.
The Eagles, who finished number two in the regular season, will host the PL Tournament this week starting with the semifinal round against Lehigh at 2 p.m. on Thursday. No. 1 seed Boston University and No. 4 seed Bucknell will kick off the action for the day at 11 a.m. The Patriot League Championship will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Jacobs Complex.
