After halftime the Dukes pushed the Eagles into mistakes. After taking just four shots in the first half, JMU would double that in the third quarter alone, making eight attempts in the penultimate frame and ultimately scoring midway through the third to take the 2-1 lead.
Two more goals for JMU came in the fourth. The third goal was again scored less than a minute after an Eagles' yellow card was issued and the Dukes were up an athlete on the field.
The fourth and final goal for the visitors came in the 52nd minute, putting them up 4-1 with eight minutes to hold off the Eagles from making a comeback. Held to just two shots in the entire second half, American fell 4-1 to James Madison.
