Friday Results / Saturday Results

Octavia Rinehardt set a new program record in the 5,000 meter run to lead the American University men's and women's indoor track and field teams at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City.

Rinehardt posted a time of 16:32.75 in the championship heat of the 5,000 to take sixth place. Her time eclipsed the ECAC qualifying standard in the event and blew away the previous school record of 17:20.14 set by Samia Akbar '03 on January 19, 2002. Rinehardt ran the program's third-fastest time in the 3,000 last week at the GMU Patriot Games, also eclipsing the ECAC standard.

Colin Eustis placed fourth in the championship heat of the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:09.98. His performance stands as the fourth best in school annals and is an IC4A qualifying time. Jeff Brannigan placed ninth in the event with a time of 8:27.52 while Josh Olsen took third in the college heat with an IC4A qualifying time of 8:19.59.

Conor Sullivan ran to a sixth-place finish with a time 4:21.30 in the mile run championship heat. Zach Wright, meanwhile, placed third in the high jump eastern with a final height of 1.98 meters.

The Eagles will now turn their attention to the 2011 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships which will take place February 19-20 in Annapolis, Md.
