The American University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Maryland Indoor Invitational on Saturday where the Eagles posted four IC4A qualifying times and one ECAC qualifying time.
Colin Eustis led a 1-2-3-4 finish for the Eagles in the 5000 meter run, posting a new personal best time of 14:44.11. Eustis' time is the ninth fastest in program history and eclipsed the IC4A standard. Josh Olsen also eclipsed the IC4A standard with a time of 14:46.90 to place second. Mark Allen (14:49.58) and Ryan Williams (14:49.91) took third and fourth in the race, respectively, while Mark Leinenger (15:07.07) placed sixth.
Erin Koch posted the women's team's highest finish with a second-place performance in the mile run. Koch ran a 4:58.20, the fourth-fastest time in school history, which is an ECAC qualifying time. Octavia Rinehardt took third in the event with a time of 5:06.60, the eighth-fastest time in program history. Julia Sullivan also competed in the race and placed ninth in 5:25.86.
Conor Sullivan and Jeff Brannigan placed third and fourth in the men's mile run, respectively, with both eclipsing the IC4A qualifying standard. Sullivan crossed the line with a time of 4:13.02 while Brannigan stopped the clock at 4:14.43. Last week Brannigan also posted an IC4A time in the event with a 4:11.17 at the Navy Invitational.
The Eagles also competed in both the men's and women's 1000 meter run. Morgan Block took eighth on the men's side with a 2:38.24 while C.J. Horvath placed ninth in 2:38.33. Rachel Wolff, meanwhile, finished ninth on the women's side in 3:18.06.
American will return to action on Saturday, January 29 at the GMU Patriot Games in Fairfax, Va.
