WASHINGTON –– The Eagles of American University women's basketball are announcing their 2026-27 schedule for what will be year two with Kelly Killion at the helm of the program. For the non-conference slate there are set to be four home games, a trip to Delaware, two trips into Virginia, and one in Maryland, as well as a crosstown clash and a trip north to Connecticut. 

The squad will begin Patriot League play with back-to-back road games splitting up the New Year festivities, first taking on the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. (Dec. 30) and then the Crusaders of Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. (Jan. 2) to initiate the journey to the conference tournament in March.

NON-CONFERENCE
Over the span of 11 games, American will host for four and will be in the District for five total, starting with a season opener against Georgetown in the Hoya's McDonough Arena on Nov. 5. The Hoyas are one of three teams on the non-conference schedule that AU didn't square off with on the previous season. It has been since 2008 that the two teams have played against one another, and it has been since 1997, 29 years, since the Eagles have taken a win in the 40-game series.
 
The Eagles are then on a two-game swing in Delaware, taking on the UD Fightin' Blue Hens (Nov. 13) and then the DSU Hornets (Nov. 15). Last season, the AU opened its season with a win over DSU.
 
Back in the District, the AU will square off with the Dragons of Drexel and the Explorers of La Salle on November 18 and 21, respectively. In 2025, both games against the Philly based teams tipped towards the City of Brotherly Love inhabitants.
 
For the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 24), it will again be the Bulldogs of Yale that the Eagles battle with on the court. After a 40 year drought between meetings, this is the second consecutive year the two teams will scuffle on the hardwood.
 
When the team returns from the brief break, it will host a local bout with Washington Adventist (Nov. 30) in Bender before traveling down to Williamsburg to take on William & Mary on Dec. 3. Three days later, American will be back in Bender hosting LIU. Last season, the Sharks and the Eagles met on the court for the first time in program history and after the Brooklyn based team took game one, AU will be looking to settle the score.
 
A quick jaunt down to Charlottesville to take on the Hoos of the ACC will be the final game before the break for exams on Dec. 9. The Eagles and the Hoos have met three times in the post-pandemic era, winning in Charlottesville in 2021 before UVA claimed series wins in 2022 and 2024, both home and away.
 
American's final non-conference game will be in Baltimore on Dec. 21, against UMBC. This will be the sixth consecutive season the Retrievers and the Eagles will meet; AU has three victories from those five most-recent contests and will be looking to keep the positive trend rolling.

PATRIOT LEAGUE
Coach Killion will take the Eagles' squad on the road to start Patriot League play when AU travels to the Lehigh Valley to take on Lehigh (Dec. 30) and the Eagles' league home opener will be against the Raiders of Colgate (Jan. 2). American will play 18 league games, facing every team in the league twice. The regular season will conclude with back-to-back home games against Bucknell (Feb. 23) and Holy Cross (Feb. 26) to bookend the conference slate.
 
The two longest road trips for American will split up the season, bookending January with a trip to Holy Cross on Jan. 2 and a trip back up to Massachusetts to face Boston U. on Jan. 30.
 
The Eagles will take on the 2026-27 season under the guidance of second-year head coach Kelly Killion. Killion retained all but one member of her staff from the previous season, promoting former team manager Emma Winters to Director of Basketball Ops. Both Robert Isme and Paige Corkins will serve as associate head coaches while Niya Beverley enters her second year as an assistant coach and third season overall with American.
