WASHINGTON – The American University outdoor track team is taking its largest contingent in recent history to the famed Penn Relays (Apr. 24-25) hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The races will begin for AU on Friday at 1:15 p.m.
PENN RELAYS MEET INFORMATION
The Eagles will start with the women's 4x100 college heats at 1:15 p.m. on Friday (Apr. 24). The squad of
Zoe Clark,
Adeline DiPaolo,
Lara Gin, and
Lilia Jones will compete in hopes of qualifying for the finals on Saturday (Apr. 25) at 3:50 p.m. The squad set the second all-time mark for AU in 47.37 seconds at the George Mason Dalton Ebanks Invitational (Apr. 3).
Following the women's 4x100, the men's middle distance squad of
Carver Morgan,
Gregory Celariste,
Daden Grogan, and
Kaden Kluth will race in the Championship of America distance medley relay at 2:40 p.m. on Friday. They'll toe the line with some of the nation's best, including UNC, Oregon, Virginia, Villanova, and Michigan. This is the first time AU has competed in the Championship of America section since 2011. In the indoor season,
Emmett Engelhardt, Celariste, Morgan, and Kluth set the Patriot League meet record of 9:49.59, taking the DMR title for the first time since 2008.
The races on Saturday will begin with the men's squad of
Barak Goldstein, Grogan, Morgan, and Kluth in the Championship of America 4x800 at 2:18 p.m., facing similar teams to Friday's DMR. The women's team will also field a 4x800 relay, with the squad of
Kate Riley,
Kara Langbaum,
Charlotte Orr, and
Shealyn Brochu competing in the college section at 4:50 p.m. to close out AU's races for the weekend. Notably, Brochu has put herself on three AU all-time outdoor lists this season, with PRs in the 400 (59.84, 10th), 800 (2:11.60, 4th), and 1500 (4:31.55, 5th).
