WASHINGTON - In front of a buzzing crowd, the American University wrestling team dominated its way to a 38-7 win over LIU on Friday night. The Eagles posted seven bonus point victories, including three pins, opening up the program's history in the Meltzer Center with an exclamation point.

Notable
- AU took bonus points away from the first four bouts of the dual, beginning with a pin from JJ Peace to spark the Eagles at 125. In the second period, he secured a headlock and drove Sawyer Ostroff's shoulders to the mat for the fall.
- Maximilian Leete had a 4-2 lead going into the third period against Chris Betancourt at 133, then took control of the match in the final frame. He racked up eight more points, including four nearfall tallies to earn the major decision.
- Jack Maida benefited from late aggressive wrestling as well at 141, taking down Amir Avazov just before the buzzer sounded to extend his lead to 8-0.
- Gage Owen added the next major decision, defeating Tommy Bonasera 12-2 for his first dual win of the year. He secured three takedowns, a reversal, and a point from riding time.
- Kaden Milheim came out on top of the tightest match of the night against Brayden Roberts at 157. Trailing 3-2 in the third period, the redshirt sophomore got his left leg around Roberts and landed a takedown with just eight seconds remaining.
- At 174, Hunter Hohman scored 18 points on the way to his third technical fall of the season.
- The Eagles closed out the night with back-to-back pins at 184 and heavyweight. Caleb Campos threw Anthony D'Alesio to the mat and kept his shoulders down late in the second period, then Emmanuel Ulrich got on top of Chris Powell to earn the same result.
- American is now 5-6 overall, and 1-1 in EIWA duals.
