WASHINGTON – American University wrestling sophomore
JJ Peace was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, announced on Tuesday.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District or Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and have significant athletic credentials. First-year student-athletes are not eligible for Academic All-District or Academic All-America distinction. The at-large division consists of men's and women's fencing, field hockey, men's and women's golf, gymnastics, and men's and women's lacrosse and wrestling.
The business administration major earned a 3.58 GPA this year, pairing a strong academic campaign with a breakout season on the mat. Peace went 26-12 as AU's most frequent starter at 125 pounds, posting the second-most wins on the team and finishing seventh at the EIWA Championships. Throughout the year, Peace placed in the top eight at four different open tournaments and won the Edinboro Open for a second straight time.
This is Peace's first CSC Academic All-District selection.
