Scouting the Eagles
- The Eagles are now 6-4 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the Patriot League after sweeping both their games this weekend. First, they topped Lafayette, 3-1, in a 2024 Patriot League Championship rematch restoring balance to the winning side. Then, on Sunday, the squad blanked Villanova, 3-0, to make it five wins on the bounce, the longest winning streak for the squad since the 2021 season.
- For their efforts, four Eagles were named PL Players of the Week. Pauline Gineste was tabbed the Goalkeeper of the Week when she earned her fourth shutout. She also allowed just one goal from Lafayette, the league-leaders in scoring coming into the weekend.
- Jordan Reicher came away with Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. She scored three goals across the weekend. She was the third AU goal against Lafayette, and she scored a brace against Villanova, with both goals coming before halftime. The junior forward now leads the team with 7 goals and 15 points. Her 7 goals tie her career high of last season with eight games still left to play in the regular season.
- Once again, Agustina Roffo is the Midfielder of the Week. It's her third time being honored this season. Her goal opened the scoring against Lafayette before assisting on Reicher's goal.
- Lotti Süme is the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week. She is the only AU field player to have played every minute so far this season. Süme was the last line of defense for a back line that held the league leaders in goals scored coming into the weekend (Lafayette) to just four shots on target and kept Villanova to just two shots on frame.
- The other goal scorers across the weekend were Kendall Varty, scoring American's second goal–the game-winning goal–against Lafayette, and Alyssa Freeman, who notched the Eagles' third goal off a penalty corner against the Wildcats.
- For sophomore Varty, it was the first goal of her collegiate career and for Freeman, it was the junior's second of the season.
Scouting the Tigers
- The Tigers are coming to D.C. after suffering two losses in a row, both non-conference matchups. First, on Friday, they were blanked 1-0 by visiting Delaware, and then Sunday, Georgetown topped Towson 2-0. Overall, the Tigers are 5-6 and have a 1-0 CAA conference record.
- Graduate student Ella Kaufman leads the Tigers with 10 points from four goals and two assists. The two assists came against Lockhaven, but each of the four goals by the forward have come in different matchups, and she hasn't managed to find the back of the cage in the three games leading up to the meeting with AU.
- Rosemarie Staal, a sophomore forward for Towson, is the squad's second leading points earner (7), with three goals and an assist. One of her three goals was a game-winner, coming against Rider on Sep. 21.
- The squad's goalkeeper, Tessa Scheenstra, has started and competed in every game across the season. After 94 shots face, she has 68 total saves for a solid save percentage of .723.
- As a team, the Tigers are averaging 1.64 goals per game and 5 penalty corners per game.
