WASHINGTON - For scoring the game-winning goal that lifted American University field hockey to its first victory of the season, senior Sophie Willemse has been named the Eagle of the Week for AU Athletics for the Week of August 31-September 6. The veteran midfielder broke a 1-1 tie in the 57th minute for the 2-1 win.

The goal was the first of the season for Willemse, who also posted an assist on American's first goal of the game. Her goal was the 11th of her career. In the Eagles' other game of the week, a 2-0 loss to Richmond, Willemse tallied a team-best three shots including two on goal.
