WASHINGTON –– American University field hockey drained four goals against Lehigh to claim the victory in the final game at Jacobs Complex this season and clinch the No. 2 spot in the Patriot League tournament with their 4-0 victory.
Notable
- Graduate student Kaleigh Missimer earned a goal and an assist on the day. The midfielder now has eight goals and an assist on the season, tied with Jordan Reicher and Sophie Willemse. Missimer has a near-perfect 8-for-10 record in penalty stroke conversions.
- Senior striker Reicher earned her eighth goal of the season when she opened up the scoring for the day.
- The Eagles earned 10 penalty corners to Lehigh's four and 12 shots on goal to Lehigh's one.
How It Happened
All 10 seniors on the roster started the game, in addition to sophomore keeper
Teagan Harmon.
Reicher's goal came early, setting the tone in the fourth minute on an assist from fellow senior,
Emma Guydish. This was followed quickly by a goal from
Nora Tromble in the eighth minute of the game to put AU up 2-0. This was the freshman's second goal of the season.
Nothing went through in the second quarter and then, in the third Missimer sent a ball across the mouth of the goal that was tipped in by senior
Elle Ridge for her second goal of the season.
The fourth and final goal of the day was, as luck would have it, a penalty stroke goal converted by Missimer. It was her third penalty stroke goal of the season.
