Swim & Dive Teams Earn Three Wins in Dual Meet at Georgetown

WASHINGTON - In a tough meet against nearby rival Georgetown, the American University men's and women's swimming and diving teams came away with three wins in a dual meet on Friday afternoon at the Hoyas' McCarthy Pool. Two of those wins came from senior Isabel McGovern in the women's 200 free and 100 fly.

Notable Results

McGovern and sophomore Marin Priddy were the two winners for American, both adding to a solid list of wins already this season.
McGovern won the women's 200 freestyle in 1:53.93, and later won the women's 100 butterfly in 57.68. She placed second in the 200 fly in 2:08.00.
Priddy took first in the women's 100 breaststroke in 1:05.68.
Runner-up finishes for the women came from sophomore Demetra Bicos in the women's 1000 freestyle (10:38.37), sophomore Piper Crosby in the women's 100 backstroke (56.94), junior Jordan Carpentieri in the women's 200 breaststroke (2:32.19), and junior Kate Williams in the women's 500 free (5:13.89)
Senior Peyton Thurman was third in 1-meter diving with a score of 238.28, and third on the 3-meter with a score of 228.68.
Crosby, Priddy, McGovern, and sophomore Grace Gilbert placed second in the women's 200 medley relay in 1:45.52, and Priddy, Crosby, senior Dylan Moulton, and Gilbert took second in the women's 400 free relay in 3:33.51.
In the high-scoring men's diving events, freshman Alex Way smashed his own PR on the 3-meter, scoring 275.55 for eighth all-time at American and fifth in the dual meet. Way also posted AU's sixth-highest PR all-time of 260.63 while placing sixth on the 1-meter.
Freshman Gavin Shifflett took second in the men's 50 free in 21.93, and sophomore Luke Martens placed second in the men's 400 IM with a time of 4:08.76.
