WASHINGTON - For the 63rd semester in a row, both the men's and women's swimming & diving programs at American University have been honored as College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams. It has been more than 26 full years in which both teams have met the qualifications to be honored.
The CSCAA announced the selection of 714 teams from 418 institutions for the Scholar All-America Team for the spring 2026 semester. These teams, comprising 16,680 student-athletes, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements. To earn this prestigious recognition, teams were required to achieve a grade point average (GPA) above 3.0 during the Spring 2026 semester.
On the women's side, American achieved an impressive GPA of 3.71 for the semester, while the men's team posted a spring GPA of 3.42. Both teams placed second among men's and women's teams in the department.
"This recognition celebrates the remarkable commitment these student-athletes make to excellence both in the classroom and in competition," said CSCAA Executive Director Samantha Barany. "The 714 teams honored this spring represent the very best of collegiate swimming and diving, demonstrating that academic success and athletic achievement go hand in hand. We congratulate every student-athlete, coach, and institution recognized."
