WASHINGTON - After a 2-0 week that brought his season record to 11-5, freshman
Caleb Campos has been named the
Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 19-25. Campos earned a pin and a major decision victory, helping the Eagles to team wins at EIWA opponents Sacred Heart and Hofstra.
In AU's 41-3 rout of Sacred Heart, Campos got an easy win at 165 pounds, taking down Brandon Teresa by a score of 13-1 for four team points. He earned three takedowns and a four-point near fall for his third major decision of the season. One day later at Hofstra, Campos had an impressive comeback victory against Matt Rogers. He trailed 8-1 after the first period, but exploded in the second to tie it up at 9-9 and then pinned Rogers halfway through the third.Â
The Eagles are currently off from competition for a two-week stretch before heading to the Franklin & Marshall Open in Lancaster, Pa., on Friday, Jan. 6.
