WASHINGTON - For her career-high 25-point performance in the American University women's basketball win over UMBC, including the game-winning three-point basket, junior Emily Johns has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 12-18.

It was the first win of the season for the Eagles, who came away with a 70-68 victory after trailing by 13 points at halftime. Johns made three triples, but none more crucial than the third with eight seconds left on the clock that took AU from being down 68-67 to up 70-68. She also posted seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

AU will be back on the road on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. against Delaware. The Eagles' next home game will be their conference opener against Lafayette on Friday, December 30 at 7 p.m.
