MANHEIM, Pa. - Despite the cancelation of this year's NCAA Championships, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) elected to honor the outstanding work of many Division I student-athletes by naming All-Americans. The Eagles' Kizhan Clarke (149 pounds) and Tanner Harvey (184 pounds) were both named All-American Honorable Mention by the NWCA.

These honors were based on each wrestler's overall body of work through the conference tournaments and up to the national meet.  

"The sudden and unplanned end to our season was a surprise to everyone," said head coach Teague Moore. "These honors offered by the National Wrestling Coaches Association give some closure to this season. Kizhan and Tanner can be happy with such a designation considering their preparation and body of work throughout the season. They are great representatives for American University and especially American University Wrestling. I'm very proud of these men!"

Clarke, who finished fourth at the 2020 EIWA Championships, would have made his first NCAA appearance this year. He started the season 19-0 with titles at four tournaments and finished with 36 wins to rank third all-time at AU for wins in a single season. He was ranked as high as seventh in the nation at 149 pounds this season, finishing ranked 15th. His career record is an outstanding 79-33, which ranks him 17th all-time for career wins with one season of eligibility remaining.

In addition to Clarke's All-American honor, he was named the wrestling team MVP when the athletics postseason awards were announced on social media. 

Harvey finished up his second season at AU after transferring from Southwest Oregon CC, and would have competed at his second straight NCAA Championships. Ranked 17th in the nation at 184 pounds, he earned AU's highest finish of third at the 2020 EIWA Championships, and has a career record of 52-21. This season, he went 24-8 overall, also ranking third on the team with six pins and tying for second with eight major decisions. Harvey's 17 pins at AU rank 10th all-time in program history.
