WASHINGTON - American University field hockey senior Jette Dieckmann was selected as the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 23-29 after leading the Eagles to a 2-0 weekend including a 1-0 start to Patriot League Play.
- In the first minute of a 3-1 win over Bucknell in the Patriot League opener, Dieckmann scored to put the Bison on their heels.
- The Eagles defeated Georgetown 2-1 later in the weekend, and for the second consecutive game, Dieckmann worked as one of the difference-makers. She contributed to both fourth-quarter goals with her third goal of the season and first assist.
- Both AU and Georgetown put up a thrilling final 15 minutes, starting with an early equalizer from Dieckmann after a long pass from Rossman found her on the back corner of the cage.
- With under 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Dieckmann picked up a turnover in front of the Georgetown goal and ran it into the corner before feeding in a nice cross to Hannah Moser who tapped in the game-winner from the back post.
