Box Score The American University volleyball team concluded the Arizona Desert Classic on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to tournament host Arizona.
Sara Rishell led the Eagles with five kills in the match, while four players added four kills apiece. Kylann Scheidt registered 12 assists while Allison Cappellino and Juliana Crum led the defense with six digs each in the match.
American (6-5) dropped the first set, 25-16, but fought back in the second before falling, 25-11, to give the Wildcats the 2-0 lead in the match.
Arizona (8-3) was able to complete the sweep in the third set, shutting down the Eagles' attack for the 25-11 victory.
Madi Kingdon led the Wildcats with 13 kills, hitting .286 on the day. Lauren Fuller and Chanel Brown paced the offense with 20 and 19 assists, respectively. Candace Nicholson notched a team-high 14 digs.
Arizona outhit the Eagles .337 to .033 in the match.
Megan Rosburg and Bree Scarbrough were named to the All-Tournament Team after the match.
American returns to Bender Arena this Wednesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. when they host Coppin State to open a five-game homestand. The game will be broadcast live on Eagles Vision TV.
