Lacrosse Returns Home to Host Holy Cross on Saturday

WASHINGTON - Back home for the first time in two weeks, the American University lacrosse team hosts Holy Cross on Saturday to kick off the back half of Patriot League play. Series History
  • The Eagles are looking to avenge a road loss to Holy Cross in 2025, as they fell 20-3 in a lopsided contest in Worcester. 
  • AU's last win over the Crusaders came in 2023, 12-7 at home. A sophomore at the time, Annabelle Jackson logged four points on two goals dishing out two assists. Reagan Murdoch also contributed to the win with a goal.

What to Know About American: 2-10 (1-4)
  • The Eagles are on a three-game skid in a challenging part of their schedule, falling to #22 Loyola Maryland at home, at BU, and at #10 Army. 
  • Murdoch is coming off a four-goal performance against the Black Knights, extending her team-leading total to 30 on the season. 
  • Following Murdoch is fellow senior captain Kellie Linehan, who's found the back of the net 25 times. She holds seven assists to her name as well, leading the team in points (32) and draw controls (34). 
  • Izzy Masengarb, Sammie Buonaccorsi, and Deirdre Brown lead AU's defensive front. The trio all sit in the Patriot League's top 10 in total caused turnovers, with Masengarb leading the way with 26 on the year. She's also made an impact in the circle, collecting 17 draw controls. 
  • Freshman Shannon Silvius has been American's most impactful first-year player, making her first start last week at Army. The rookie has seven goals on the year with an assist, most notably netting four goals against Lehigh. 
  • The sophomore pairing of Brooke Hill and Maryanne Harris have shared time in goal, with Hill starting in every game so far. She holds a 15.32 GAA with 94 saves, while Harris posts a 9.14 GAA across six appearances in relief. 
What to Know About Holy Cross: 5-7 (3-2)
  • Holy Cross is coming off a narrow 12-11 loss to Bucknell at home last Saturday, conceding a game-winning goal from the Bison's Megan Krestinski with just over two minutes left in the fourth quarter that broke the 11-11 tie. 
  • Senior Tory Rider scored a career-high five goals in the loss, while Racheli Levy-Smith collected 16 draw controls. 
  • The Crusaders have split their last six games, defeating Lafayette, Lehigh, and Colgate, and falling to #4 Navy, Harvard in a non-conference matchup, and then Bucknell. They currently stand in fifth place in the Patriot League. 
  • Hadley Cepiel has been Holy Cross's most dangerous attacker, leading the team with 32 goals and dishing out six assists. Annabel Brennan trails behind her with 17 goals, while Kate Avitabile sits at second in the Patriot League with 36 assists.
