WASHINGTON – Head coach Lindsay Teeters and the American University lacrosse program have hired Jason Frezza as an assistant coach. Frezza comes to American from Brown, where he served as an assistant on the women's lacrosse staff the last two years. 

"We're thrilled to welcome Jason to our program. He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge, a fresh perspective, and new ideas that will immediately add value to our team," said Teeters. "His experience at Brown, particularly the impact he made with their goalies, really stood out to us. We're excited for him to bring that expertise and energy to our program, and I know he'll make an immediate impact on our players and our team."

Frezza was a part of Katrina Dowd's coaching staff that led Brown to historic success. The team made the postseason for the first time in 2025, including an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after falling to fifth-ranked Princeton in the Ivy League semifinal. Brown earned its highest-ever national ranking at #17 in the regular season, achieved the program's highest ranked win over #7 Yale, and won 10 games for a second straight year. Individually, Frezza helped put four players on the All-Ivy League Team, and Annie Burton was named a Second Team USA Lacrosse All-American and an Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American. 

Brown qualified for the Ivy League Tournament again in 2026, but fell to #16 Yale in the semifinal. The Bears went 8-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play, picking up ranked wins against Cornell and Penn. 

Primarily responsible over Brown's goalkeepers, Frezza's impact on the goalie unit played a major part in the program's rise to unprecedented success. In 2025, he guided Claire Mahoney to a 9.33 GAA and a .423 save percentage that ranked third in the Ivy League. The following year, Mackenzie Conway had the second-highest save percentage in the conference at .484. Making vast improvements over just two seasons, Brown's team GAA was 12.53 in 2024 before Frezza arrived. 

A five-year member of the Manhattanville men's lacrosse team from 2017 to 2021, Frezza began his coaching career with his alma mater in 2022. With the Valiants, Frezza was responsible for the planning and installation of all defensive schemes and packages.

As a player, Frezza etched his name all over Manhattanville's record book. He has the second most minutes played in program history with 2,771:51, recorded an 11.34 GAA and .553 save percentage for seventh and eighth best, respectively, and he has the fourth most wins with 16 and the third most saves with 649 total. He was a Skyline All-Conference Second Team selection his graduate year, and was a two-time Skyline All-Sportsmanship Team selection. He was also recognized on the MAC and Skyline Academic Honor Roll four of his five seasons. 

Frezza graduated from Manhattanville in 2020 with his Bachelors degree in economics, and received his Master of Science in Finance in 2022 and in Sports Management in 2024.
