WASHINGTON – The outdoor track team is traveling to Charlottesville to compete at the Virginia Challenge this weekend (Apr. 17-18). The squad will race events from the 100 to the 10k, beginning with the 100 meter prelims at 3 p.m. on Friday.
VIRGINIA CHALLENGE MEET INFORMATION
The women's sprints will start off the weekend, with freshman
Lilia Jones racing the 100 meters at 3 p.m. on Friday (Apr. 17). The rest of the sprints will compete on Saturday (Apr. 18), beginning with Jones doubling in the 200 meters at 12:30 p.m. Sophomores
Zoe Clark and
Lara Gin will race the 400 on Saturday afternoon, and the women's sprints will also field a 4x100 relay.
For the men's sprints, junior
Jason Omari-Anim and freshman
Gregory Celariste will start with the 100 meters at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both will double on Saturday — Omari-Anim will join junior
Emilio Hooper and freshman
Alex Zenit in the 200, and Celariste will race the 400. The men's sprints will also field a 4x100 relay on Saturday.
The women's middle distance squad will start with the 1500 meters at 4:55 p.m. on Friday; senior
Kate Riley, sophomore
Kara Langbaum, and freshmen
Shealyn Brochu and
Georgina Chalow will compete. Chalow and Langbaum will double in the 800 meters on Saturday, joined by freshman
Charlotte Orr. For women's long distance, senior
Annie Ripol and sophomore
Fiona Murphy will debut in the 10k on Friday night. Junior
Estella Miller, sophomore
Zoe Rector, and freshmen
Emma Colavito and
Lydia Drago will race the 5k on Saturday morning.
In men's middle distance, four Eagles will start the weekend in the 1500 meters at 5:30 p.m. on Friday: sophomores
Ty Parker and
Zack Zerbe and freshmen
Emmett Engelhardt and Charlie Lovett. Engelhardt and Zerbe will join sophomores
Papakojo Danquah and
Barak Goldstein and freshman
Daden Grogan in the 800 on Saturday afternoon. In long distance, senior
Cooper Michaud will race the steeplechase at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by sophomore
Jaden Frederick debuting the 10k on Friday night. Sophomore
Noah Smith will race the 5k on Saturday morning.
