  • The Eagles defeated UMBC for the first time in 2023 in thrilling fashion on the road, with current AU senior Annabelle Jackson scoring the game-winning goal with just one second left in the game to take a 16-15 lead.
  • They'd go on to beat the DMV-area foe again in 2024, led by a five-goal performance from Reagan Murdoch
What to Know About American: 1-4 (0-0)
  • The Eagles are coming off a 16-12 loss to George Mason last Friday, Feb. 27.  Reagan Murdoch and Kellie Linehan combined for 10 goals in a comeback effort against the Patriots, but AU couldn't dig out of an early 5-0 hole.
  • Murdoch's six goals on the day helped her reach 100 for her career, and set a new single-game career high. Linehan was all over the field for American, scoring four goals and collecting a career-high nine draw controls.
  • Junior attacker Adria Kotzian is off to a strong start this season, leading AU in assists with eight. She found Linehan for one goal against Mason, and Murdoch for another.
  • On the defensive side, senior Sammie Buonaccorsi leads American with 13 caused turnovers and 11 ground balls. The sophomore Izzy Masengarb has made a significant impact as well, adding five draw controls and an assist to seven caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
  • The Eagles have caused 61 total turnovers and are averaging 12.20 per game, the second most in the Patriot League this season.
  • Sophomores Brooke Hill and Maryanne Harris have shared time in goal. Hill has started each contest, but Harris has come in relief in each of the last three games. The transfer from USF has made 33 saves on 112 shots faced, while Harris has made nine on 19 shots taken at her.
  • Head coach Lindsay Teeters is seeing production out of freshmen midfielders Julia Pope and Shannon Silvius, who have combined for 11 points and five draw controls through their first five collegiate games. Pope turned in a seven-point performance against Howard, scoring two goals and dishing out five assists for a remarkable day of distribution.
What to Know About UMBC: 4-2 (0-0)
  • With a strong start to the season, the Retrievers enter Saturday's matchup 4-2 overall following their 16-8 loss at Delaware, snapping a three-game winning streak.
  • UMBC has been an explosive offensive team early in the season, averaging 14.16 goals per game.
  • UMBC totals a 75-67 advantage on the draw control in the first six games, with senior defender Ella Killian leading the charge.
  • Sophomore attacker Emily Knapp leads UMBC's offense and the American East Conference with 25 goals, recording at least three goals in every game so far. Sophomore attacker Reese Macintosh has been a key playmaker, leading the team in assists and recording back-to-back hat tricks, while senior attacker Libby Staples continues to contribute as a facilitator with eight goals and eight assists this season.
