Lacrosse Takes on #22 Loyola Maryland on Wednesday at Home

WASHINGTON - Coming off their best performance of the season at Lehigh last Friday, the Eagles of American University lacrosse are back at home to continue the early stages of Patriot League play against #15 Loyola Maryland.

What to Know About American: 2-7 (1-1)
  • The Eagles are coming off a 19-15 win over Lehigh last Friday, with eight different goalscorers highlighting their best overall performance of the season. The offensive outburst marked their highest-scoring game in four years. 
  • Reagan Murdoch led the offensive effort with five goals, while Kellie Linehan logged six points on four goals and two assists. The pair of senior captains have fueled AU's attack this season, combining for 49 goals. Linehan leads the team with 25, and Murdoch follows with 24. 
  • A midfielder turned attacker this season, Linehan has also been excellent in the draw circle for the Eagles. She leads the team with 30 draw controls, averaging 3.33 per game.
  • Freshman Shannon Silvius broke out for four goals against Lehigh, earning her Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors. The speedy midfielder showcased her one-on-one scoring ability, putting in three unassisted goals in addition to one on a free position chance. 
  • Junior attacker Adria Kotzian had the best game of her career, scoring two goals and dishing out three assists for five points. She's been AU's top distributor so far this year, totaling 11 assists. 
  • Annabelle Jackson, Caroline McBride, Anastasia Byrnes, and Julia Pope added to the scoring. Aine Powers and Nickie Prendergast each picked up three ground balls, while Lauren Appleby picked up a career-high five draw controls to round out a team win for American. 
  • AU's defense has caused 11.78 turnovers per game, standing at 11th in the country. Junior Samantha Buonaccorsi leads the team with 22 total, while Izzy Masengarb follows with 18, and Deirdre Brown with 14. All three players sit in the top 10 in caused turnovers in the Patriot League. 
  • Sophomore transfer Brooke Hill has started every game in goal, posting a 14.17 GAA with 76 saves. She had nine saves against Lehigh.
