BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After her career-high four-goal performance in American University lacrosse's 19-15 over Lehigh on Friday, freshman midfielder
Shannon Silvius has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
Silvius put her one-on-one scoring ability on display on Friday, creating three unassisted goals in the run of play in addition to one tally on free position chance. Her first goal provided life for AU in the first quarter, bursting past her defender and firing a left-handed shot on the run to the top of the cage. She used a quick jab step to create space on her second goal, dashing to the crease for a simple finish on goal.
The rookie provided the exclamation point to American's six-goal fourth quarter, scooping up a loose ground ball in front of the net and sneaking a shot past the shoulder of Lehigh's Micaela Jennings. The acrobatic finish put the Eagles' 19
th goal on the board with just 23 seconds left.
Reagan Murdoch and
Kellie Linehan also received conference recognition, with Murdoch earning an honorable mention for Midfielder of the Week, and Linehan for Attacker of the Week. Murdoch led AU's highest-goal scoring performance since 2022 with five goals, while filling the stat sheet with three draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls. Linehan contributed in multiple areas as well, logging six points on four goals and two assists, adding six draw controls and two ground balls.
The Eagles are back in action this Wednesday, March 25 against Loyola Maryland at home. First draw is set for 1 p.m.
